About Us

Nice to meet you, ciao!
I'm Luca Rajna, narrative photographer. This is how I define myself - narrative - because my production is mainly in the field of storytelling.
This means that I do not design single images but create coordinated sequences.
What this shop is sharing, is fine art photography about photographs of Lake Como with customers all over the world. All the products you find here are photographs taken in the fantastic setting of Lake Como, the most celebrated Italian lake, and its surroundings.

I have been doing this job since 1994 after my graduation in photography at the Riccardo Bauer Vocational Training Centre of Milan, familiarly called 'ex Umanitaria'.
Today my studio is named Luca Rajna Progetti Fotografici.

My main work presented at the degree examination was 'My Maternal Grandfather Writes His Memoirs'. It was a long-term project with which I won the San Carlo Borromeo Prize as 'Best Young Emerging Photographer in Lombardy, year 1994', consequently exhibiting the work at the Società per le Belle Arti ed Esposizione Permanente in Milan and then also in San Marino, where I received a gold medal from the FIAP - Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique and a prize from the Department of Culture of that Republic.

At the photography school, my teacher of photographic language was Roberta Valtorta, a photography critic of international importance. This meant that my expressive thinking was set with quality and completeness from the very beginning and I also had the honour of studying with Gianfranco Mazzocchi, the director of my course, and with Maurizio Buscarino, the well-known theatre photographer.
In more recent years, I have returned to study in order to be able to deal with fantasy storytelling through more complex photomanipulations. My teacher is Luca Storelli, a mythological creature who is half man and half Photoshop. He alone is enough to learn everything, although for the sake of thoroughness I wanted to check my learning with both Aleksandr Vinogradov and Richard Wood.

In 2010 I was named best Italian wedding photographer in a special contest called by White Sposa Magazine in collaboration with with the industry association Tau Visual - Associazione Nazionale Fotografi Professionisti.
In 2024 I was also awarded a second gold medal by the International Action Art - UNESCO for the storytelling project La Fiaba di Venezia e della Via dell'Incenso (The Fairy Tale of Venice and the Incense Road), now part of the Sultanate of Oman National Pavillion at the Biennale di Venezia.

With me and my photography studio have partnered with professionals winners of the most important international awards, including the World Press Photo and the Sony World Photography Awards.

My work has been published in several books and magazines on various subjects: art, theology, international law, marriage, style and the art of receiving, architecture.
